As the top marketer for Truist—the bank holding company created in 2019 after the merger of SunTrust Bank and BB&T—Vijay will oversee all marketing and brand strategy, including social, creative and advertising. He brings more than 20 years of leadership experience to the role, including several top roles at major finance companies.
Describing Truist as a “purpose-driven financial services company,” Vijay said in a statement that he sees an opportunity for the brand to “reset what consumers and communities expect from their bank.”
Prior to accepting the CMO role at Truist, Vijay spent two and a half years as the top marketer for H&R Block in Kansas City, where he led the development of data-driven marketing performance and integrated a new company purpose into its brand story.
Before H&R Block, Vijay was CMO of TD Bank for four years, where he led all brand and marketing efforts, as well as corporate and public affairs. He also developed a comprehensive fin-tech strategy as CMO, and in his last year with the company he transitioned to leading fin-tech operations full time, reporting directly to TD Bank’s CEO. Earlier in his career, Vijay also held senior management roles at Ally Financial, Bank of America and FedEx.

Vijay’s experience “leading financial services marketing at scale, transforming client experience and launching breakthrough brands makes him the perfect leader to accelerate our brand promise of standing for better,” Wilson continued. As CMO for Truist, he expects Vijay to “play a critical role in shaping the Truist brand strategy and delivering on our purpose to inspire and build better lives and communities.”
Vijay will relocate to Charlotte, N.C. for the role next month, he said in a LinkedIn post.
